About Draw My Tree

Draw My Tree turns a family tree into something people can read, print and hang on a wall. It is made by Prescott Bros LLC, a small independent software company in the United States.

Why it exists

Genealogy apps are built for research: finding records, matching relatives, adding sources. They are much weaker at the moment the research is for, when someone wants to show the family who they are. A tree on screen scrolls sideways forever, and printing it usually means a stack of pages or a chart someone else designs for a fee.

Draw My Tree starts from that moment. It lays the tree out so the lines do not cross where they can avoid it, keeps siblings in birth order, and exports the result as a vector PDF, SVG or PNG at any size, from a letter sheet to a wall chart. It also draws the charts genealogists print most: fan charts, pedigree charts, timelines, family group sheets and Ahnentafel reports.

What we promise

  • Start without an account. You can build or import a tree of up to 50 people as a guest, and keep it by signing up.
  • Your family data can leave with you. Every tree exports in full as JSON, free. GEDCOM, the format other genealogy programs read, comes with a Keepsake or the Family Plan, and a GEDCOM from any of them imports free.
  • Private until you choose to share. A tree is seen only by you and the people you invite. A public link, if you make one, hides people who appear to be living. The privacy policy says exactly what we keep.
  • No ads or data sales. Nothing in a tree is used for advertising or sold to anyone.
  • Accessible. We work to WCAG 2.2 AA; the accessibility statement lists what is known to fall short.

How it is paid for

One tree is free, with a portrait for every person. Albums and documents, inviting family, print-ready exports and more trees are paid, either once for a tree (a Keepsake) or as a plan. The pricing page lists every option. Payments are handled by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record, so we never see card details.
