Refund & Billing Policy

This is an earlier version of our Refund & Billing Policy, which took effect on October 18, 2026. It no longer applies. Read the current Refund & Billing Policy.

Effective date: October 18, 2026

This policy explains how subscriptions, one-time purchases, billing, cancellation, and refunds work for Draw My Tree, operated by Prescott Bros LLC. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

Subscriptions

Photo albums and documents, inviting more than a few people to a tree (a free tree can invite 3 people to view it, and a tree with a Keepsake 10) or anyone to edit, print-ready export beyond the free print (up to 3 generations each way from one person, on Letter or A4, a chart as a PNG) on every tree, creating more than one tree without a Keepsake, and connecting an AI assistant require the Family Plan, a subscription offered monthly or annually at the prices shown on our pricing page. You can build a tree as a guest for free, and a free account keeps one tree backed up, with one portrait for each person in it.

One-time purchases

A Keepsake is a one-time purchase that unlocks print-ready and full-resolution export of one tree, without a watermark, for as long as that tree exists (including while it sits in the trash). It is charged once, at the price shown when you buy it, and does not renew. It applies only to the tree it was bought for and includes a read-only public link to that tree, so the family can see it, but no other paid feature. A tree with a Keepsake does not count toward the one tree a free account keeps, so you can start another free tree beside it. If you permanently delete that tree, the unlock ends with it. A member of a tree, or anyone signed in who opens one of its public links while the link is on, can buy its Keepsake. It belongs to the tree, not to the buyer: the tree stays its owner's, and buying it adds no one to the tree. If the owner permanently deletes the tree, the buyer's access ends with it and no refund is due, though the receipt stays in the buyer's account.

Gifts

You can buy a Keepsake or a year of the Family Plan as a gift. A gift is a one-time purchase, charged once at the price shown, that gives you a single-use link to send to the person it is for. The link does not expire. Whoever accepts it first gets the gift: a Keepsake for one tree they choose, or the Family Plan on their account for 365 days from the day they accept it (or, if they already have free access to the plan, from the day that access ends), with nothing to renew. You can also accept a gift you bought yourself, for instance if the person it was for never opens it; the link asks you to confirm before it is used on your own account. A year can't be accepted on an account that already pays for the Family Plan; the link stays unused, so it can be passed on or accepted once that subscription ends. You can see each gift you bought, and copy its link again, on your account page.

Discounts

A discount code entered at checkout, or the credit described here, applies only as stated at checkout. If you subscribe to the annual Family Plan within 30 days of buying a Keepsake, the Keepsake's price is taken off your first annual payment. The credit can be used once per account: once an annual payment carrying it has gone through, it isn't offered again, even if that payment is later refunded. A Keepsake that has been credited this way can no longer be refunded on its own.

Billing and renewals

Subscriptions are billed in advance through Polar, our merchant of record, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal at the then-current price.

Cancellation

You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account's billing settings. When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, and you will not be charged again. Until then your account page shows the date it ends, and Keep my plan there opens the billing settings where you can undo the cancellation. After it ends, Everything stays and stays yours to download. Adding more photos, editors and trees pauses until you return; people you’ve invited can still look. In full: every tree you made stays in your account and you can keep editing them, but paid features pause: you cannot upload photos, documents or video beyond one portrait per person, storage returns to the free 250 MB, you cannot create another tree or add another version of a tree (the versions you have stay, and only each tree's default version can still be changed), invite anyone to edit, invite more people to view than a free tree can have (3, or 10 on a tree with a Keepsake), or turn on a new public link (a tree with a Keepsake can still have one), an AI assistant can no longer connect, and print-ready export returns to the free print of up to 3 generations each way from one person on Letter or A4, except on a tree with a Keepsake. People you already invited keep read-only access, so the family does not lose the tree, and a public link you already turned on keeps working until you turn it off; what they can export follows the tree, so it returns to the free formats too. If you stored more than 250 MB while subscribed, nothing is deleted, but new uploads wait until you are under it. You can still export your data as JSON at any time. Your account page keeps showing when the plan ended, with your receipts, and you can restart the Family Plan from it whenever you like.

Refunds

You may request a full refund of your first subscription payment, or of a Keepsake purchase, within 14 days of that charge by contacting us at contact@drawmytree.com. A refund goes to the person who bought the Keepsake, and a refunded Keepsake ends the unlock for that tree. If the tree's owner removes your access, or turns off the public link you bought from, before your payment completes, the payment is refunded. You may request a full refund of a gift within 14 days of buying it if its link has not been accepted yet; the refund cancels the link. Once a gift has been accepted, it belongs to the person who accepted it and is not refundable, except where required by law. Renewal payments, and payments made more than 14 days after the charge, are non-refundable except where required by law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days of the charge and we will review your request. No refund is due for any period after we suspend or terminate your access for a breach of the Terms of Service, including a breach of the Acceptable use section.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Polar retries the charge and you will be notified. Your subscription stays active while the payment is being retried. If it still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and paid features pause as described under Cancellation, until you subscribe again.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices. We will give you advance notice before a price change applies to your renewals, and the new price will take effect on your next billing period after the notice.
